Mari Vineyards brings an Italian soul to Old Mission Peninsula. Founded by Marty Lagina, the winery draws inspiration from the great wine estates of Tuscany and Piedmont, while embracing the unique terroir of northern Michigan.
The centerpiece of the estate is its dramatic underground cellar — a 23,000-square-foot production facility built into the hillside, where wines age in French and American oak barrels at a naturally consistent temperature. Tours of the cellar are a highlight of any visit.
The wines are bold and expressive, with a focus on varieties that thrive in the region's cool climate. Their Sangiovese-based blends are a nod to Italian tradition, while their Riesling and Pinot Grigio showcase the peninsula's signature white wine excellence. The Bestow dessert wine is a visitor favorite.
The tasting room features a beautiful terrace with vineyard views, and the estate hosts regular events including live music, wine dinners, and harvest celebrations.
